UK Black Pride x Christie's present16th Century Life Expectancy
I am extremely humbled and privileged to have worked on a campaign that gives a voice to an absolutely inspirational community that truly deserves the spotlight and space to be heard, acknowledged and heralded.
#16thCenturyLifeExpectancy explores the misinformation and false narratives surrounding the Black trans community.
In partnership with #UKBlackPride the campaign launched at Christie’s with an exhibition of portraits of 5 incredible members from the Black trans community followed by a panel discussion with thought leaders from the LGBTQI+ community.
They discussed the misinformation that plagues the Black trans community as well as the bias and discrimination faced when it comes to healthcare.
UK Black Pride is asking allies, through a letter on the 16th Century website www.16th-century.com, to open discussions with MPs across the UK asking for the rights and safety of trans people to be a priority; and for an urgent review of waiting times for trans-related care which can be up to FIVE years!
